 About McGriff Architects:

McGriff Architects is a small, high-end design firm specializing in custom residential, mixed-use and commercial space design. With a staff of talented professionals, candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in every phase of the design and construction process.

Candidate will be responsible for managing projects under the Principals and/or Associates, presentation development, and interface with clients, contractors and municipal agencies. Responsibilities will grow quickly as skill is demonstrated. We are a growing firm and empower our team with a great deal of agency to impact both the work and the culture of the firm. The nature of the office is casual with a sense of humor, yet our work is rigorous in quality and detail.

Our office is located in the energetic area of San Francisco's Mission District, a short walk from 16th Street BART Station.

We are currently seeking candidates for the following positions:


Project Manager (7-10 years experience)

Qualifications include:

  • Accredited degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)

  • 7-10 years of experience with an architectural firm, including custom residential projects

  • CA license, or in active pursuit of professional licensure

  • Skilled in planning and creating reliable, well-coordinated AutoCAD drawings in all phases of design and documentation

  • Experienced with typical construction phase services

  • Able to lead construction detailing in collaboration with senior staff or technical consultants

  • Experience coordinating with contractors and consultants on a range of projects

  • Experience managing client expectations while providing a high level of service and attention

  • Ability to manage budgets and schedules on several projects concurrently, while prioritizing efforts

  • A self-starter who is collaborative, organized and self-directing within a larger team. The ability to manage one’s own time is paramount

  • Comfortable mentoring and training junior staff

  • Experience with sustainable building and design practices, including the implementation of LEED and/or GreenPoint Rating procedures

  • An exceptional design sensibility and a strong portfolio; hand sketching is a plus

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit (preferred)

Designer (3-5 years experience)

Qualifications include:

  • Accredited degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)

  • 3-5 years of experience with an architectural firm, including custom residential projects

  • CA license, or in active pursuit of professional licensure

  • Skilled in planning and creating reliable, well-coordinated AutoCAD drawings in all phases of design and documentation

  • Experience with client, consultant and contractor interactions

  • Ability to concentrate on multiple projects and prioritize efforts

  • A self-starter who is collaborative, organized and self-directing within a larger team. The ability to manage one’s own time is paramount

  • Able to coach and mentor junior staff

  • Experience with sustainable building and design practices, including the implementation of LEED and/or GreenPoint Rating procedures

  • An exceptional design sensibility and a strong portfolio; hand sketching is a plus

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Revit (preferred), MS Office, Adobe CS, G Suite
