When chef/owner David King approached us to design his new restaurant in uptown Oakland, he knew that he wanted a space which responded to the unpretentious and confident characteristics of his food. Our design manages to be both intimate and bold, focusing on stripped down materials and colors which accentuate the food and the local context. The 18’ interior spaces are anchored by two large raw metal chandeliers, custom built in Oakland and fitted with exposed filament bulbs. Outside, the facade was similarly stripped down to the bare essentials and opened up to allow light to enter the restaurant. Our new facade marks the entry to the space with a bold yet classic neon sign and art deco gates, both custom designed and locally fabricated.
